WORD reaches You've Got Your Hands Full that the "zany antics" of the young girls from Stoke in the Big Brother house are causing some consternation among parents of twins.
One lady, who shall remain nameless for now, said: "I'm disgusted with Big Brother so far. I firmly believe that twins and multiples should be treated as individuals not as some kind of freak show."
She added: “I am sure that Sam and Amanda are very nice girls but the way they have been portrayed on Big Brother is very damaging for twins and multiple birth families."
"It could send out the wrong message to parents and carers. Twins should always be treated as individual people, we should encourage people to respect and celebrate difference in twins."

For what it's worth, my view is that I'm not irritated by the sisters themselves. I think they are sweet girls, classic Big Brother fodder, but not at all nasty like one of the notorious ones from last year.
But I am more than a little wound up by the reaction they have received: "Twins? That's amazing," screeched Charley, before others went off on one about were they psychic? etc etc.
Not since the Cheeky Girls have I felt so nauseous when faced with such twee nonsense.
What do you think? Is my contact over-reacting? Am I? Please respond to my poll if you are a parent of multiple birth children or have a twin sibling.
Please also leave a comment to let me know what you think.
You may also want to vote if you have nothing to do with twins, but I hope you can still leave a comment explaining this, as I would be able to see how families with twins are voting.
I may even be able to write something about it! Thanks for reading - and happy voting!
* See - I don't think they're annoying. Much.

I only saw the launch night and a couple of nights after..The fact that they were gooing in as an entity but not as individuals baffled me..
I think their squealing and creeching got the better of me...

I couldn't care less. They are having fun.....
Yes they are annoying and calling them 'the twins' instead of their names gets on my nerves sometimes but ultimately as long as they aren't bothered or upset thats fine.

They are young and full of fun. As the program progresses, we see them more and more doing things with other people too, and are picking up more of an identity (eg. when the nominees for eviction were deciding who to award the money to, they did state, I think, Amanda, by name- then spoilt it a bit by saying that "the twins" would do well when they leave.
My boys are often referred to as "the triplets" by friends and teachers at school. It certainly doesn't bother them at this stage. Their teacher has recognised their individuality and they are progressing at different rates. I think HAPPY is the deciding factor.

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. As I say it's not the girls themselves who wind me up, but it's the stereotypes that people think of or ask them about. I think they were definitely playing up for the camera when they came in (well duh!) and have settled down into being more themselves now. They do seem kind, sweet girls so good on 'em. But as a mum of twins it would wind me up if my daughters played up the 'twin' thing to that extent - as they look nothing like each other, I don't think I have to worry. :)

I'm not a twin meself, but there are many twins in my family. They don't worry me. I'd hope the British viewing public are switched on enough to realise Sam and Amanda are a single set of twins, not indicative of all twins.
Besides, BB can have only one winner. Contestants are usually evicted one by one. As the weeks draw on, viewers and contestants alike are going to have to start perceiving the differences between them, not just marvelling at their twin-ness... So by the end we will all have seen them as individuals.

Cars and houses are not very cheap and not everyone can buy it. But, loans are invented to support different people in such cases.
